ARTIST BIO:

Caitlin Accurso is an accomplished artist, jewelry designer, and children's book author based in Sea Girt, New Jersey. A lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore, Caitlin's profound connection to the ocean has significantly influenced her artistic vision. After earning a BFA from the University of Delaware in 2002, she spent several years in marketing, event planning, and real estate before founding her own venture, Caitlin Accurso Art, in 2019.

Her fine art, displayed in various galleries and boutiques along the Jersey Shore, reflects her deep passion for nature, especially the beauty of the beach. Caitlin specializes in vibrant, realistic oil landscapes, but her artistic journey took a transformative turn when she began experimenting with resin. The fluidity and depth of this medium captivated her, becoming a central element of her creative practice and leading to the launch of her Beach Jewelry line.

With a commitment to sustainability, Beach Jewelry repurposes excess resin from her paintings into unique, wearable art. Each piece offers an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to her larger works and is available in select stores along the coast from Maine to Cape May, with plans for continued expansion.

In 2023, Caitlin further broadened her creative reach by establishing SaltyKids Books. Her debut children's book, Benny at the Beach, was inspired by a memorable day at the beach with her sons and features seagulls and pigeons as central characters. The story highlights themes of diversity and inclusion, encouraging readers to look beyond appearances. A sequel, Sam in the City, followed later that year, continuing the adventures of her charming bird characters. Caitlin taught herself digital illustration and self-published both books, which are available in local shops and online through major retailers, including Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Caitlin is passionate about engaging with young readers, frequently conducting interactive presentations at schools to inspire students to explore their creativity, develop storytelling skills, and embrace the joy of reading.

Through her fine art, eco-conscious jewelry, and rhyming children’s stories, Caitlin's work is fueled by her love of nature and her desire to connect with others. Her evolution from artist to entrepreneur and author reflects her unwavering dedication to using art as a vehicle for expression, education, and community building—a journey that is just beginning.
